Jacqueline Liu, piano
Jacqueline Liu, a seven-grader from North Carolina, embarked on her musical journey at a young age. From the age of eight, she has been studying piano under the guidance of Florence Ko, a highly esteemed teacher recognized in the Steinway & Sons Hall of Fame.
At the tender age of six, Jacqueline began to participate in prestigious competitions and garnered numerous awards. She won First Prizes in piano competitions including NCFMC State Royalty Competition, NC Young Artist Auditions, American Music Talent Competition, and received the distinguished State Maxine Taylor Fountain Award. She is also a Grand Prize Winner in the 2023 Concert Artists International Competition. Jacqueline has set foot on world stages such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall multiple times, showcasing her remarkable abilities as a pianist. This summer, Jacqueline performed as a soloist at the prominent Guangxi Culture and Art Center in China, where she garnered high praise for mastering such an intricate piece. Her performance received extensive coverage from major media outlets across Guangxi province.
At the age of ten, Jacqueline was honored with an invitation to perform her first concerto with the Nanning Symphony Orchestra in China. Her exceptional performance led to a prestigious repeat invitation in 2024. In January 2024, her talent shone again as she won first prize in the Peter Perret Youth Talent Search, earning her another performance opportunity with the Winston-Salem Symphony. In an online audition for the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonics (FBM) Orchestra in the Czech Republic, her performance caught the attention of the orchestra's officials and was featured on their official channel. Conductor Gevorg Sargsyan, a winner of the prestigious Sir Georg Solti Award, was particularly impressed, praising her delicate touch and masterful control over both the instrument and the music.
Beyond her piano virtuosity, Jacqueline is equally passionate about singing, attaining multiple victories in international competitions, including the prestigious American Protégé International Vocal Competition 2023 (Classical Repertoire Category). She is also honored to be selected to NCMEA Honors Chorus two years in row, representing the highest level of achievement in choral music in NC state.
